Die Dallas Mavericks haben dank einer hervorragenden Teamleistung einen Pflichtsieg in der NBA gegen die Minnesota Timberwolves gelandet.

Die Mavs hatten beim 139:123 keine Probleme und fügten den Timberwolves die 18. Niederlage in den vergangenen 19 Partien zu.

Doncic knickt im ersten Viertel um

Nach der umstrittenen Niederlage gegen die Atlanta Hawks waren Luka Doncic (Knöchel) und Kristaps Porzingis (Knie) wieder am Start, der Slowene sorgte jedoch für eine Schrecksekunde. Im ersten Viertel landete der Youngster nach einem Sprung mit dem rechten Fuß auf dem Fuß seines Gegners und knickte weg. Doncic hatte zwar Schmerzen im ohnehin lädierten Sprunggelenk, konnte aber ohne größere Probleme weitermachen.

Doncic war mit 20 Punkten und neun Rebounds diesmal nicht Topscorer seines Teams, Tim Hardaway Jr. kam sogar auf 23 Punkte. Maxi Kleber brachte es von der Bank aus auf elf Punkte und sieben Rebounds in 21 Minuten.

Bester Werfer der Partie war D'Angelo Russell von den Timberwolves mit 29 Zählern, Minnesota-Star Karl-Anthony Towns kam nicht zum Einsatz.

Beal mit 55 Punkten für Wizards

Bei den Washington Wizards glänzten derweil die beiden Deutschen unter den Körben: Moritz Wagner (8 Punkte) kam beim 134:137 gegen die Milwaukee Bucks auf zehn Rebounds, Isaac Bonga auf neun. Teamkollege Bradley Beal erzielte im zweiten Spiel nacheinander mindestens 50 Punkte, das war in zwei aufeinander folgenden Nächten zuvor dem verstorbenen Kobe Bryant im Jahr 2007 gelungen. Insgesamt standen für Beal am Ende 55 Punkte auf dem Konto, damit stellte er eine persönliche Bestmarke in der NBA auf.

Dass es nicht zum Sieg reichte, lag am überragenden Khris Middleton (40 Punkte), der seinen Teamkollegen Giannis Antetotokounmpo (22 Punkte, 14 Rebounds) bei den Bucks in den Schatten stellte.

Joel Embiid verpasste bei den Philadelphia 76ers knapp die 50 Punkte, am Ende kam der Superstar des Teams beim 129:112 gegen die Atlanta Hawks auf 49 Zähler und 14 Rebounds.
